Caulking Guns

Caulking is a generic term used to describe a number of different processes for the sealing of joints and seams in various areas of the construction and plumbing industries among others. In our case it relates to the application of flexible silicone sealants and mastics for the closing of gaps in buildings and other structures against the infiltration of water, air, dust etc; and in the case of fire retardant silicone as a component in firestopping.

As with most manufacturers of silicone sealants and mastics our products are generally sold in a solid plastic cartridge which needs to be inserted into some form of applicator before use, and for this most people use a caulking or sealant gun. A caulking or sealant gun is a pistol like device with an open side where the silicone sealant cartdridge is loaded, this is then held under pressure by a locking spring with a trigger that then drives the silicone sealant through the open end of the nozzle.

The use of a caulking gun allows the sealant bead to be pressed into the joint quickly and efficiently thus cutting down on un-wanted wastage and giving an altogether more professional finish to the project in hand.
